3D Modeling

3D Modeling is the process of creating a digital computer representation of a physical object through the use of specialized 3D software.

When a sculpture than has been 3D laser scanned needs modification or if there was no sculpture to scan at all 3D modeling is used to modify or create a 3D computer model. These models are then used in the creation of physical sculptures at whatever scale the artist desires.

The image to your right is a computer rendering (2 dimensional snapshot) of Uncle Scrudge. It was created using 3D computer modeling software from artist provided pictures of a sculpture that they no longer had. This model was used to create a new physical sculpture which was molded and cast in bronze.
